Following some high profile closures in Nenagh recently isnt it time we examined our conciouses and make an effort to shop entirely LOCALLY. On a very very rare business visit to the crescent in limerick recently I was amazed at the numbers of Nenagh people I came across doing their shopping .Is Nenagh so bad do we not have everything on our doorsteps? Is it possible to justify the fuel cost of such a trip to a neighbouring shopping centre?
Local independent retailers are the backbone of our economy if we dont change our shopping habits- our towns across the country will die /are dying. A euro spent locally has a multiplier effect of 3 fold in that locality if you spend it outside the area its gone forever!
Next time you visit a shopping centre out of town and make a purchase ask yourself the question Could I have bought this item in Nenagh ?Before we know it there will be no shops /businesses left in our towns …and then we will be sorry .
